At Aesthetic Enhancements Plastic Surgery, our highly-trained Aesthetician, Sarah Hasty, performs microdermabrasion treatments to improve the appearance and health of the skin. This procedure safely and effectively removes damaged or dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin with a micro-crystal or diamond-tipped hand device. This process gently exfoliates the skin to encourage natural collagen production, which will help to soften fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It also improves hyper-pigmentation and reduces enlarged pores. Patients from all over Orlando visit the MedSpa inside board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Armando Soto's office to receive microdermabrasion treatments. The results leave patients with beautifully soft, glowing skin.

Microdermabrasion Procedure

Prior to the treatment, the aesthetician will cleanse the treated area with a mild cleaner to remove any dirt build-up, oils, and makeup. Once the area is properly cleansed, the aesthetician will then examine the patient's skin for any abrasions or sores that would cause discomfort during the microdermabrasion. The aesthetician will then apply the hand-held device to the target area to carefully exfoliate the skin while also removing skin debris via a gentle suction. Treatments range from 30 – 60 minutes depending on the area treated and the patients skin type.

During/after treatment

The microdermabrasion treatment does not hurt as it targets the very top layer of the skin. However, some patients may feel light suction, scratching, or vibration during the treatment. Although there is no downtime following a microdermabrasion procedure, patients may experience mild redness, bruising, and flakiness. These symptoms usually subside after 1 – 2 days. The aesthetician will be able to educate patients on how to best care for their skin, including what skin care products to use for best results.

Microdermabrasion FAQs

Microdermabrasion vs. Peels?

Chemical peels can be more invasive and may require 1 week of down time, whereas microdermabrasion does not require any down time. There are different strength levels of chemical peels, but our Aesthetician Sarah Hasty will be able to discuss the differences in detail during a patient’s consultation and help every patient decide if a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or both are best for their skin.

Areas treated?

At Aesthetic Enhancements Plastic Surgery, we not only offer facial microdermabrasion treatments but microdermabrasion for the arms or back. These sessions usually last about 30-minutes and provide amazing skin results to the arms and back region.

After Care Tips?

Microdermabrasion treatments do not require any downtime. However, patients should refrain from exposing their skin to direct sunlight for the first 5 – 7 days following their procedure. This will better ensure the protection of their skin to enable optimal results.
