Why Winter Is the Best Time To Consider Laser Skin Treatments

Winter brings cooler temperatures and dryer air that can wreak havoc on your skin. Most men and women experience dry, itchy, and rough-textured skin during cool weather and can’t get relief with just lotions and creams. Laser treatments are a nonsurgical way to improve rough winter skin and issues such as hyperpigmentation.

Winter’s shorter days also make it easier to protect your skin from the sun after laser treatment. Laser-treated skin is especially vulnerable to sun exposure and damage, so it’s important to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment.

Here are a few laser skin treatments that will give your skin the revitalization it needs this winter.

Contour TRL™ Laser Skin Resurfacing

Clear, glowing skin is a must for any season. This skin resurfacing treatment uses controlled laser technology to improve skin concerns such as acne, scarring, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. The ablative laser technology targets the top layer of the skin, allowing new skin cells to grow over the surface and minimizing discoloration and wrinkles.

Your provider will give you a local anesthetic or a sedative during your treatment so you can relax and feel comfortable. Ablative laser treatments can be aggressive; you may need to take a few days off work to recover, depending on how deep the therapy was. Some people time their treatments around winter holidays, such as Washington’s Birthday, to make time off easier.

HALO™

Enlarged pores and skin texture issues can occur any time of the year, but especially during the winter months. HALO laser treatment shrinks pores and improves skin texture, sun damage, uneven skin tone, scarring, vascular lesions, and discoloration.

HALO is a hybrid fractional laser, meaning it uses ablative and non-ablative wavelengths that treat the skin’s surface and the deeper layers. As a fractional laser, it only treats a portion of the skin, allowing for shorter recovery times.

You will need about 2 to 3 days of downtime after your procedure. For the best outcome, you should opt for one HALO treatment every 6 months until you achieve your desired results.

MicroLaserPeel®

This laser treatment removes a thin layer of surface skin to reveal younger-looking skin. A benefit of MicroLaserPeel is that your provider can customize the intensity of the laser based on your skin needs. You can use this treatment to improve sun damage, acne scars, and mild wrinkles.

Some people combine MicroLaserPeel with BOTOX® to improve multiple signs of aging and enjoy a rejuvenated look.

MOXI™ Laser Skin Rejuvenation

If your calendar is jam-packed with activities during the winter, you probably prefer an easy facial rejuvenation treatment with no downtime. If so, MOXI is the answer to your wishes. This treatment uses a fractionated non-ablative laser to target skin concerns without impacting the surrounding skin. MOXI is typically shorter than other laser treatments and is gentle enough for all skin types.

You can use MOXI treatment to improve skin texture issues, fine lines, discoloration, and wrinkles. It’s also an ideal “prejuvenation” procedure to ward off the development of wrinkles and other skin concerns related to aging.

Broadband Light Therapy (BBL®)

BBL therapy treatment warms the top layer of the skin and spurs collagen production, addressing pigmentation and vascular issues such as rosacea, broken blood vessels, age spots, and freckles. It also improves fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and more to give you vibrant, evenly toned skin.

We also offer Forever Body™ BBL treatments to treat pigment and signs of aging anywhere on the body.

Regardless of the season, laser skin treatments can make your skin look and feel good. These before and after photos show our patients who love their HALO results.
