Sofwave™

At Aesthetic Enhancements Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Armando Soto offers Sofwave to address aging or sagging skin. This nonsurgical treatment uses unique ultrasound technology that enables Dr. Soto to target specific areas of the skin. The ultrasound energy stimulates collagen production in deeper skin layers, restoring and rejuvenating the skin. Sofwave is ideal for patients who are not ready for an invasive facelift but have numerous facial wrinkles, creases, or fine lines.
Serving Sofwave Patients Throughout the Orlando Metro Area
Dr. Armando Soto helps patients from all over the Orlando metro region and across Florida turn back the clock with Sofwave and other rejuvenating treatments. He regularly serves patients from communities including:

How Does Sofwave Work?
Sofwave uses a unique Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) technology to deliver ultrasound energy to the skin’s middle layers, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin. These 2 proteins give skin its shape, firmness, and elasticity. Sofwave minimizes discomfort by combining heat with the system’s SofCool™ mechanism, protecting the skin’s upper layer from burning.
Sofwave vs Ultherapy®

Sofwave is similar to Ultherapy, as both use ultrasound energy and are cleared by the FDA to tighten skin with little to no downtime. Sofwave, however, also improves the quality of the skin and firms loose, crepey skin. Most people also find that Sofwave is a much more comfortable procedure than Ultherapy, penetrating only the upper layers of skin and not the deeper layers underneath.
Sofwave has both a corrective and preventative component. Because it can slow down collagen loss, Sofwave benefits younger patients who want to prevent aging or address its early signs, such as minor laxity in the jawline. It’s also effective for rejuvenating more mature skin types with moderate signs of aging. As a bonus, Sofwave is safe for all skin tones.
Feature | Sofwave™ | Ultherapy® |
Technology | Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) | Micro-focused ultrasound |
Depth Targeted | Mid-dermis (1.5mm) | Multiple depths: 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm (includes SMAS layer) |
Ideal For | Fine lines, wrinkles, mild to moderate skin laxity | Deep lifting, pronounced sagging |
Comfort Level | More comfortable due to shallower penetration | Less comfortable due to deeper penetration |
Treatment Time | Faster sessions (~30-60 minutes) | Longer sessions (up to 90 minutes) |
Downtime | None | None, but it often creates more noticeable swelling, tenderness, and bruising |
Treatment Areas | Face, neck, brows, jawline, décolletage, arms, abdomen, thighs, knees | Face, neck, brows, jawline, décolletage |
How Many Sofwave Treatments Do You Need?
Our patients often see some improvement in their skin tone and quality as early as a week after their first treatment. Many get the desired results after 2 treatments. The skin gradually gets firmer and smoother for up to 3 months after the last treatment as the body continues to produce new collagen and elastin.
Sofwave treatments typically take at least 45 minutes for the full face and neck region.

What To Expect During Treatment
Before beginning a Sofwave treatment, we apply a numbing cream to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible during the procedure. After the skin is numb, your provider applies Sofwave’s handheld device in a grid-like pattern to specific points on the skin, delivering the ultrasound energy below the skin’s surface. You can expect to feel a warming sensation with some brief, mild discomfort.
After treatment, you may have slight redness or swelling, which subsides after a few hours. You won’t require any downtime and will be able to return to normal activities immediately. It is important to set realistic expectations with this approach, as it cannot produce the same results as a surgical procedure such as a facelift.
