As an expert, experienced body contouring surgeon, Dr. Soto has helped many men and women achieve a more attractive yet natural appearance through liposuction. During a basic liposuction procedure, Dr. Soto injects a fat-hydrating solution into the body which maximizes the fatty tissue to instrument interaction, therefore minimizing trauma to surrounding structures such as nerves, blood vessels, and muscle tissues, and maximizing the amount of fat possible to safely remove. Liposuction can be performed anywhere you may have pockets of localized excess fatty tissue, including the abdomen, thighs, arms, back, and under the chin. Dr. Soto utilizes the most up to date technology and instruments, and has found that the best outcome for many patients is achieved through a highly customized technique in which several modalities are applied. This customization of the plan and procedure is based on careful communication at your consultation and Dr. Soto's detailed physical examination and understanding of your goals and what is causing your concerns. The overall goal is to help patients safely achieve a more attractive contour, however this procedure should not be used as a weight loss solution. Ideal candidates should already be at or near their goal weight, and have a BMI (body mass index) of less than 30.
"Exactly the Change in Body Shape I Was Looking For! - Orlando, FL - Although I have always had a small waist, I have always carried a bulk of fat around my hips, thighs and lower abdomen. In the hopes of having a more attractive silhouette, I got liposuction by another surgeon on my hips, inner and outer thighs but the results were not as dramatic as I would have hoped. I then went to consult with Dr. S about what my options were. I explained to him what I was hoping to achieve - I wanted a flat stomach and I wanted my butt to look curvy and round. He explained to me that with a Brazilian Butt Lift, the fat would be taken out of the areas on my body with excess fat and then transfered to my butt. On the day of my surgery, as Dr. S outlined the areas of my body where fat would be drawn. I received liposuction on my hips, outer thighs, knees, lower and mid back, my waist and my entire stomach. I remember him saying while he was drawing on me that that his goal was "to make me look as good as possible from every angle".....and he wasn't kidding! I am now 4 weeks post-op and I can honestly say that this surgery has completely changed my silhouette for the better and I am extremely pleased with the results. It should be said however that this was not an easy surgery. I have undergone surgeries in the past (breast lift, breast augmentation and liposuction) and this was definitely the most painful. If you are considering undergoing this type of surgery, plan to do it during a time where you will not have any major obligations for the first 1-2 weeks post op. Also bear in mind that you cannot sit, lay or put any pressure on your butt. I was in a lot of pain for the first week but I stopped taking pain medication after only 3 days. After that, the pain was bearable but I was still uncomfortable, swollen and relatively incapacitated for a little while. You must also wear a garment 24 hours a day for 4 weeks. While this surgery definitely requires some planning and some sacrifice, it is well worth it if you are seriously looking for a change in your overall shape. I have no regrets and having this surgery was one of the best things I could have done for myself! My waist is tiny, my stomach is flat, my back is arched and my butt is big, round and smooth. Also, all of the incisions are virtually gone after only four weeks. I would be happy to answer any questions regarding this procedure that anyone has and I highly recommend consulting with Dr. S to anyone who has been thinking about having this done! "I came to Doctor Soto to repair a disfigurement from a liposuction procedure that I had received which left a large lumpy area of scar and fatty tissues above my navel. I also needed to replace my saline implants that were rippled and not completely under the muscle. The staff and Dr. Soto were wonderful and explained what needed to be done to fix everything and realistically what to expect after surgery. Also, they keep following up with you to make sure you are following after care. Even though it was very difficult at times to keep following all the after care rules, they are there to make sure you are successful. I am very pleased with everything and know that I would recommend them to anyone who needs something done."- S.B. / Yellowpages / Jan 08, 2017
"J-Lo Watch Out!!! - I had a brazilian butt lift on 11/12/09 and the results are fabulous.Don't gget me wrong, the pain was INTENSE the first 24 hours but afterwards, I was able to move slowly. The results were immediate and well worth the pain.I recently had a baby 4 months ago and my "baby pouch" never went away and my butt was droopy but big. The liposuction removed the abdominal fat and was placed in my buttocks!Amazing!!!! again, well worth the 24 hour pain and the doctor is soooooo blessed!!! His "work" is amazing!"- Anonymous / RealSelf / Mar 01, 2010
"Lower Body Lift After 3 Kids and 65 Pound Loss - I’ve always been a yo-yo dieter. I’ve also had 3 kids that spanned from 2004 to 2016. At my highest weight I was 215 pounds. Somewhere between 2016 and 2020, I lost about 25 pounds. In January of this year, I weighed in at 188 and I decided enough was enough. So I started my journey. It never even occurred to me to get a lower body lift at that point. I just wanted to lose the weight. Well, in July, I broke into the 140’s. I was so pleased with my commitment, however I was left with a ton of skin after the babies and weight loss. I have very fair skin and have been told the fairer the skin, the thinner and therefor more saggy. Of course! I decided to go see Dr. Soto, after having a few other consultations with other doctors. I don’t know what it was but I felt more comfortable that he knew exactly how to mold me. I had my Lower body lift surgery on July 29th so I’m now 5 days post op. The first few days were rough. The first night I had immense acid reflux that wouldn’t go away. They tried, I just have a history of acid reflux and I would usually control it with Nexium. Well because my muscles were stitched and tightened, it put on that extra pressure and the acid just traveled upward. This was actually the worst part the first day. I opted for the Exparel, which I think was a huge reason I wasn’t in immense pain. It lasted for the first 3 days and now I just take a painkiller as needed, which isn’t often. Another side effect I wasn’t prepared for was the phlegm. It’s a side effect of the anesthesia but once you get that tickle in your throat, it’s very difficult not to cough. Coughing is not fun when you’ve had your muscles fixed. However, sometimes it’s necessary to rid yourself of the phlegm. On day 5, it doesn’t hurt as much as it did on day 2. So my biggest complaint up to this point has really been the acid reflux. I’m trying to learn how to control it with the foods that I eat. I’m instructed not to drink water and to opt for the fruit juices and Gatorades (something that won’t wash away those important electrolytes). Apple juice proved to be an acid builder so now it’s just Gatorade. It’s all trial and error for me right now but I wanted to share my first before and after photos with you all. Dr. Soto and his team have been very helpful, as I have had a lot of questions along the way. I was so sure he would have to do liposuction, however he did not and I’m still very pleased with my new body, even as heavily swollen as it is. I cannot wait to see my final result! You will see a pic of me at 215, then a before surgery body pic at 149 and then 1 day post op."- F. / RealSelf / Aug 03, 2020
"Anchor lift with 255cc implants - best surgeon - Only doing a review because I lived on this site pre & post op, looking for similar procedures (and I chose the best surgeon ever, so he deserves a review). I've always had saggy breast, and what I thought was extra breast tissue in my armpit region. It wasn't until I went to see Dr. Soto for liposuction that I was informed I actually had a slight breast deformity - ptosis 3 tubular breast. Dr. Soto respectfully informed me why my breast were so droopy, and that liposuction would not help get the goal I was desiring. He instead explained he could perform an anchor lift which would result in a youthful, perky and pretty breast shape. I had other consultations scheduled after him, but after speaking with him and seeing his amazing bedside manner and dedication to safety, I cancelled the others & booked my surgery with him that same day. The fact that he didn't try to also push liposuction really made me trust him and his judgement - Vs other surgeons wanting to perform any & everything, only for their benefit. He definitely has your best interest at heart & is very realistic about getting you to your goal image/body. I ended up also asking him for implants to make sure I got the shape and fullness that I really wanted. I showed him goal photos, and trusted him to make the best decision based on my body. I think he said I would be around his 3,500 breast augmentation, and his work 100% showed his talent. He's a true artist, I'm still in shock at how amazing my results are!!! My friends and family don't even believe the photos I show them are actually me. I am only 6 weeks post op and they look better every day. Photos speak for themselves. I also looked through hundreds of results from surgeons around the country, and Dr. Soto had some of the best scar results I had ever seen. Being in my 20s, that was a huge concern of mine and I am so so happy I went with him. My scars are already barely noticeable and continue to face. I only wish I had done this sooner!! The entire office (nurses, PA, coordinator, front desk) is beyond sweet, always making you feel comfortable and going out of their way to accommodate you. After surgery, Dr. Soto saw me at least 5 times within the first month to monitor my healing - just goes to show how much they really care for each patient. If my friends & family ever need any work done, I will be sure to send them to Dr. Soto and his wonderful office!!"- K. / RealSelf / Sep 20, 2020
Tumescent liposuction, known as the “Super-Wet” approach, is a suction-assisted (SAL) technique that uses a solution and power-aided motor to help remove stubborn fat. Dr. Soto uses specialized instruments to inject a solution of epinephrine (adrenaline) diluted in saline into the fatty tissue to be treated. This minimizes blood loss and expands the fatty tissue layer, making it easier to remove the problematic fat while minimizing the risks of injury to other structures and tissues. The next step is where Dr. Soto's experience, skill, and eye for beauty will benefit you- as he uses specialized cannulas to remove fat in a sculpting fashion to achieve the most attractive and natural shape possible for your body.
Depending on your goals, the area of the body to be treated, and the details of your anatomy as seen on your examination with Dr. Soto, he may recommend VASER liposuction for you, either alone, or in combination with other techniques such as Bodytite or tumescent technique. The VASER platform uses ultrasound energy to disrupt fat cells in a highly selective fashion, meaning that the energy causes this disruption of fat cells well before it affects blood vessels, nerves, connective tissue, or muscle tissue. This makes it a very effective and safe technique, especially in scarred areas or in men, who tend to have more fibrous and tough fat that is more difficult to remove through more traditional liposuction techniques. This selectivity for fat is also why Dr. Soto strongly believes VASER is a much better option than liposuction techniques involving lasers, which are not specific in any way for fat. As with any advanced technology, however, it is important to remember that the quality of the outcomes possible, as well as the safety profile of the technique, will depend highly on the skill and experience of the surgeon handling the instrument in your procedure. Dr. Soto is proud to have been the first plastic surgeon in Central Florida to offer the VASER technique and has performed VASER liposuction on all areas of the body.
Laser-assisted liposuction uses laser technology on specified areas of fat to burst energy that will loosen and liquefy the fat for removal. LAL liposuction includes brands such as SmartLipo, SlimLipo, Lipolite Laser Liposculpture, LipoLite, and ProLipo PLUS.
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure most often performed under general anesthesia our nationally certified and accredited surgery center in Orlando. The procedure lasts about 30 minutes for each body part, depending on the technique and whether or not other modalities are being brought to bear. It can be a stand-alone surgery or combined with other procedures. After surgery, patients are required to wear a compression garment to help the body adjust to its new shape and minimize swelling. Bruising and swelling will largely subside within a few weeks, but you will not see final results for several months. Liposuction does leave small scars, but these are placed in well hidden areas and fade nicely over time.

Is it Safe?
In the right hands, liposuction is among the most safe procedures performed in all of plastic surgery, but patients can experience poor results and serious complications when performed by inexperienced surgeons or those not properly trained. It is important for patients to do their research, and find an experienced surgeon like Dr. Soto that can help them achieve the best, most natural-looking results.
The results of liposuction can be seen for many years following surgery if the patient follows a healthy diet and exercise program. Removed fat cells do not come back, but patients can still gain weight in other areas if their remaining fat cells grow.
Too Much Fat?
Yes, it is possible to remove too much fat- this is a matter of safety. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons does not recommend removing more than 3-4 liters of fat for the safety of the patient. Removing more than this is considered high-volume liposuction, which increases the chances of complications from the surgery, and will require you to spend the night in the hospital. Liposuction is best thought of as a procedure performed to refine the body's shape- it is not effective, safe or appropriate to perform liposuction as a means of weight loss. All patients are advised to be near or at their ideal weight before undergoing liposuction.
While liposuction removes fat and improves contour and shape, it does not address sagging or drooping skin. If skin laxity is a concern, patients can talk to the surgeon during the consultation to discuss their options for improving skin texture, such as a tummy tuck, thigh, neck, arm, or butt lift.
